CSS and Collins Aerospace Elevate Flight Training to New Heights

2025-08-06

China Simulation Sciences (CSS) and Collins Aerospace have achieved a major milestone in their joint development of the B737MAX Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) project. The two companies are integrating EFVS and Head-Up Display (HUD) simulation equipment into the B737MAX Full Flight Simulator (FFS) platform, while actively exploring the technical applications of EFVS/HUD in commercial pilot training.

CSS is currently the exclusive partner of Collins Aerospace for advancing EFVS simulation training system deployment in the Asia-Pacific region. This collaboration marks a significant step forward following the strategic cooperation agreement signed at Airshow China in November 2024. It also signifies that the partnership has officially moved into a substantive phase of R&D and application.

As a global leader in aerospace systems, Collins Aerospace provides advanced EFVS and HUD simulation solutions for the project. CSS, leveraging its self-developed Level-D full flight simulator, is integrating the EFVS into the training environment, enhancing simulation fidelity, supporting EFVS certification and training requirements, and further strengthening flight safety capabilities.

EFVS: A Key Technology Driving Safer and More Efficient Civil Aviation

In recent years, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has actively encouraged airlines, airports, and ATC organizations to adopt advanced technologies to enhance flight quality and operational safety. EFVS is one of the emerging navigation technologies prioritized for trial and deployment.

EFVS combines HUD (Head-Up Display) and EVS (Enhanced Vision System) technologies. Its core safety benefit lies in providing real-time external visual information during both instrument flight and visual flight, for precision and non-precision approaches alike.

Enables early detection of runway debris or incursions

    Enhances pilot situational awareness

    Improves approach and landing safety

Significantly boosts operational capability in low-visibility conditions

Contributes to better on-time performance and an improved passenger experience

As part of CAAC's EFVS verification initiative, CSS is responsible for FFS-based EFVS validation and pilot training development. Together with Collins Aerospace, CSS is working on training syllabus design and exploring EFVS-related flight training programs to promote wider adoption of the technology across China and the broader Asia-Pacific civil aviation sector.

Accelerating Simulation Innovation for Next-Generation Training

The EFVS developed by Collins Aerospace provides pilots with enhanced visual clarity in low-visibility environments, improving both safety and operational efficiency. CSS's integration of EFVS into its full motion simulator platform not only accelerates course validation and training deployment, but also marks a key advancement for China in next-generation flight-assistance simulation technologies.

Building on its strong foundation in high-grade civil aviation training equipment, CSS is also expanding into emerging markets such as the low-altitude economy. Its high-performance full-motion training simulator for manned eVTOL aircraft has completed development and is entering delivery preparation. With internationally leading flight fidelity and system integration capabilities, the simulator provides an immersive, high-realism training experience tailored to the future needs of premium eVTOL pilot training.

Strengthening Global Collaboration for Safer Civil Aviation

Through its deep collaboration with Collins Aerospace, CSS once again demonstrates its strong technological capability in advanced flight simulation and verifies the high level of trust placed in its engineering excellence by globally renowned aerospace companies.

CSS will continue expanding its partnerships with leading international aviation technology enterprises, contributing China's innovation to global civil aviation safety and creating a safer sky through new-quality aviation technologies.
